We provide an on-line service with information on the eco-friendly nature of hotels, available through the website fiveleafsystem.com. We value the information that we receive from those looking for hotels for business, holidays or relaxation and from the hoteliers who have joined the system.
Confidentiality is one of our major concerns. Please read the following carefully so that you understand our position on this issue. The references to “we”, “us” and “our” are to Five-Leaf; those to “you” and “your” are directed to the user.
What service do we offer that requires information from you?
If you wish to tell us your assessment of the eco-friendly nature of the hotel where you stayed (on the 1 to 5 scale on the GreenGauge5 barometer) we will need your first and last name and your address (postal and e-mail). You will be given a membership number and asked to suggest a password. The information you give us on the hotel will only be used for the barometer. We do not, as yet, have forums for the exchange of ideas. (Forums will be in the form of a blog.) You will be informed if this development occurs and from that point there will be a more detailed policy for you to appreciate.
What information do we collect automatically?
When you visit Five-Leaf, we collect data about your IP address, the web browser software and referring website. This may include information about your on-line activity, such as pages visited. Our aim is to provide a service which brings together information about user interests, especially in the eco-friendly field. We can then provide more focused content for users and would-be users of our service.
We collect aggregate information to track page-visits so that we can improve the service we offer.
We collect the user’s name and e-mail address if you are simply looking for information. If you purchase any of our services (for advertising or other purposes), we collect billing information depending on the form of payment used. We use the information collected to let you have any information you request about our organisation.
What do we use your information for?
We use the information to register you as a member of Five-Leaf System and manage your account. This enables us to provide you with information in the area of environmental issues if you are interested.
Who do we share the information with?
We use third party advertising, with Google as one of the vendors. Google uses cookies to serve ads specific to your interests. You can opt out but then you will only see ads that are generated at random and may have nothing to do with your interests.
How can you be sure that your information is protected?
There is no absolute security on any website, but the information you are transmitting is a simple assessment of a hotel. You do not need to make any further comment unless you wish. We use firewall and systems to detect intrusion so that no unauthorised person can access your data.
How can you be sure of privacy if you follow any links on Five-Leaf System?
You cannot. We cannot guarantee the privacy policy of any other site. You should look closely at the privacy policy of any site you visit so that you understand the ways in which personal information is collected, used and disclosed.
How do you close your account?
It’s very simple. You send us an e-mail with the subject “Closing my account” and we will follow your instructions.
