Northern United States is a vast stretch of country spanning from the Mid-West, through the Great Plains, and to the Rocky Mountains on the East Coast, all the time bordering Canada to the north.
The Midwest or the North Central Region which describes its geographic location more accurately is home to abundant nature including the massive Great Lakes and the vast northwoods which cover northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan and spill over into Canada. A region of simple and hospitable people, farmland, forests, picturesque towns, wonderful cities such as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
The Great Plains are home to North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma, and are a former Wild West frontier land often described as “flatter than a pancake”. This region used to consist of endless grasslands, however, much of it is now one huge farm after another, with occasional towns, but the remaining prairies are still vast and somewhat desolate.
The Rocky Mountains, or the Rockies for short, divide western USA from the Great Plains.
The Rocky Mountain states contain many of the country's greatest national parks, Indigenous American communities, and a vivant Old West heritage. The land is great for outdoor life, such as skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and road and mountain biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, horse-back riding, and white water rafting in the summer.
