South Australia is a state in the middle and south of Australia that covers a large territory. It has a small population of about 1.7 million, of which about 75% live in the state capital of Adelaide and its surrounding areas. Although most of the state is arid, it has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world including places like Kangaroo Island, Australia’s third largest island which lies off the coast of the mainland in the south-east of the state.
SA has remained culturally vibrant throughout its history and is known for its festivals and fine produce, and although it might not be the tourist magnet that others are in the country, it offers a different perspective on Australia from many of its different parts. With world-class wines and other produce, friendly people, unspoilt environment, and a very relaxed pace of life, it offers the break in Australia that you may have been looking for.
