Sleeping Lady is a 5 Leaf Mountain Resort
What we like…
Sleeping Lady has long been known for its sustainable and ecologically-minded practices. All 18 buildings have been remodelled to meet or exceed current building and energy codes, and all were constructed to blend with the original style while the land was replanted with native vegetation.
Designed with the environment in mind, additional sustainable features include a magnificent 28,000 linear feet of Trex decking made from recycled plastic bags and wood scraps, a Geo-exchange system suppling heating and cooling through underground tubes insulated in the earth, reclaimed wood sourced on site used in construction, and an organic garden that provides ingredients for the kitchen and composting of organic kitchen waste.
Tell me more…
Energy saving compact fluorescent lights and occupancy sensors control lighting have been installed where appropriate, and electric vehicles are used by the maintenance staff here. The site also boasts water-conserving fixtures in bathrooms, including tap aerators and low-flow shower heads and toilets, water based paints and stains used throughout the property, and conference and guest rooms making the best use of natural lighting and use of natural materials in furniture, bedding, and construction materials. Rock on!
