This splendid reconstruction of a group of three derelict watermills offers modern comforts in a traditional and picturesque environment. Great care has been taken to preserve the buildings in traditional style whilst providing all the comfort required by modern life. In addition, the complex is totally self-sufficient in terms of energy production and is run on a totally environmentally friendly basis, with solar panels and a Micro hydropower turbine providing energy for the whole site.

The Aunt Antoninha’s water mills are a group of three water mills nestling in a wildly beautiful valley which had been abandoned for some 50 years. The present owner, who is the grandson of Tia Antoninha, realised the potential that the location offered for environmentally conscious tourism and embarked on an ambitious programme of restoration and conversion, which has resulted in a harmonious mix of traditional and modern design.
Guests can experience the authenticity of the traditional mill buildings whilst enjoying all modern comforts, secure in the knowledge that the environmental impact of their stay has been carefully studied to be reduced to the absolute minimum.
